Posponed Lessons from Ramadan 1

Lesson #7: Never underestimate your bag; my nike bag in this case even if you are standing beside lots of women in Taraweeh prayers while each one of those is wearing a LV ,Burberry,Longchamp bag.
I thought my bag felt shy to be beside all these bags, average price of one is 600$. Just for my knowledge, do you think they are the original or just fake ?

Lesson #8:When Ramadan is approaching, make a strategy and decide, whether this month is for inviting ppl over, preparing fetar and sohour for them or dedicate this to worship only.
I had a confusion abut this and decided that I can postpone all the social gatherings except for close relatives to after Ramadan.
My day was like this arrive work @ 8, work finish @ 3pm to home, prepare the food and sleep till the sunset, eat then off to Taraweeh prayers which starts at about 8:15 pm and ends at 10:30, nevertheless the time taken from home to the mosque which is 15 minutes to go but on my way back it may take an hour or more. When arriving home prepare for next day's food and today's sohour. I will be a fool if I decided to burden myslef with gatherings ,taking into consideration that the year is 365 days and Ramadan is 30 days, so how come you leave the 335 days without any social events and stuck them all to this month ? I forgot to mention how busy the streets were in Cairo and especially in Ramadan and having all my relatives living in the other side of the country made this a smart choice.

Postponed Lessons

As I was out of reach during my birthday week, I decided I delay my 31 lessons for this year and make it valid untill the Eid after God's will :).
Each year when July comes, I become extremely tense and worried for several years my birhtday circumstances werent that great ,all praise to God I learned this lesson this year and Iam sticking to it as much as I can. Also at work, we have the evaluation which contributes to this worry.

A few days ago, or lets say a week ago, I had this idea abut this saying by Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him,

" من لزم الاستغفار جعل الله له من كل هم فرجا و من كل ضيق مخرجا و رزقه الله من حيث لا يحتسب "
Which actually means if you had this saying which is أستغفر الله you will certainly find a path out of each tribulation you pass by and it really works, plz try it and you will never regret it .

Lesson#6: Keep this in your mind and always say it even if you are not 100% concentrating, you will find magic happening :)
" من لزم الاستغفار جعل الله له من كل هم فرجا و من كل ضيق مخرجا و رزقه الله من حيث لا يحتسب "

My first Amigurumi Bear

Iam sick, suffering from a strange flu in July, since Friday so I stayed at home and only went out once on Friday to have some lunch I wanted to drink hot soup and bcoz of my flu wasnt able to cook. We had our lunch , my husband and I , then we stayed for a couple of hours to relax. We then went home and I took my medicine and went to sleep , hoping that the next day I will be ok. Then saturday came and its getting worse, so I started thinking outside the box to entertain me at home, it seems I wil be stuck here more :) I was looking forward to crochet my first amigurumi since my last post was abut Japan and this is a well know Japanese art.

I googled and found this, didnt follow the pattern , made it a little shorter. Let me share it and share my edited pattern.

My Editted Pattern:
1-Made Front and Back the same colour.
2-Chained 25 and folded it, making the front and back.
3-The length of the body instead of 12 cm made it 8 cm.
I couldnt find any buttons for the eyes ,mouth or nose so this is wht I did:
  • Eyes: Chain 4, sc in first stitch from the hook, then sc 6 in this same first stitch then close, u will get a small circle which I used for the eyes.
  • Mouth: Chained 4 then fasten it off and fix to be the mouth.
  • Nose:Made one stitch for this.

The Original Pattern can be viewed as below :

Lesson#5:Crochet is such a blessing, it makes my sickness and stay at home, extremely fun.

Fix you

I love this song...its my sunshine in dark..
Thank you ColdPlay...you really made my day....
Enjoy it and feel the below lyrics....

Fix you

When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down on your face
When you lose something you cannot replace

Tears stream down on your face
And on your face I...Tears stream down on your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down on your face
And on your face I...

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Its July :)

When July comes, Iam someone else or at least I try to :) My birthday is near and Iam getting older each day to reach a complete new year.Last year I wanted to make the whole month special so I saved some money and bought myslef each week some new cloth just to make me feel better as I wasnt in a good mood then.

This year, July came suddenly :) and I wasnt prepared with my "29 to be" birthday plan.
Then the first day has passed and the second day is approaching, I think, how will I make this month so special and how do I define special this year and Iam supose to be more smarter this year. I love shopping and buying stuff but I never buy me cloth to wear except if its my Eid's cloth and I stay all the year searching for my new cloth to be worn during the Eid prayers. This is why last year I thought it would be a good choice to do something, I dont do often.

This year Iam in complete confusion, how will I celebrate my July ?
I want to teach me new virtues, not sure if this is the correct word but I have been wishing to train myself to be a better wife and hopefully a good mom if Iam lucky to have any :)

But Iam lucky coz, praise be to Allah coz I was postponing a certain family meeting but wizout knowing,I took the decision to "Just do it" and invite them over today which was the 1st day in July. This happened last week,I was out of Cairo and I was breathing fresh air so I was put in a brand new mood :)

The journey to my July, this year , is simply trying to walk through my fear, walk and not run which means this may take some time but I will surely complete my marathon even if it seems that the distance to walk is endless.

I hope I can come up wiz 31 learned lessons and maybe even print it out and hang it on my wall, to be my 29th Tito's birthday gift to me .

Lesson#1: Just Do it and Walk through my fear
Lesson#2: It doesnt matter if what you want is terribly belated, just be patient, and once it happens you will feel that you are the most happiest person on earth and that all words to praise GOD for this, will never be enough.
Lesson#3: I make the best Om Ali and I do have my secret ingredient ;)

Still have 28 to go :)

The Discomfort Zone

I had this thought about what will make someone move from a stable job to find another one or even stay at this stable job and try to find another unstable one.Triggered by the video from TEDxCairo, I thought I should rethink and even if I never start now, at least I should keep notes of all the ideas I think are worth being my own business.

A couple of weeks ago, I made a trial of my catering idea. One of my friends is giving parenting lectures for new moms or moms to be, I knew these lectures were once a week. I called her once and asked if they serve any refreshments during these seminars and the answer was yes,so I was straight and forward, can I be responsible for offering you my homemade refreshments and she was thrilled to hear this.
Iam now responsible, its tuesday and the refreshments should be delivered on sunday,5 days to go.

Nevertheless, tuesday was my friend's husbnd's birthday and she did ask me for a cake on the same day.I had to prepare the cake and the order for sunday.
As aggreed, the ladies attending ought to be 12 and the following was requested :

1-25 mini pizzas
2-12 choclate cupcakes
3-12 dates cupcakes
4-cheee patte

I prepared the pizza dough on Wednesday and thought I shall I bake it saturday just to keep them as fresh as possible. The cupcakes shall be done on saturday too. Then came Saturday, I stayed working for 12 hours to get all these ready, slept for very few hours but it worth :). Having delivered the order the next day, I had great comments from the ladies and my friend's mother wasnted to make some propaganda for me but I did stop her coz I was too shy ;).One of them ordered some more choclate cupcakes just to be ready anytime I go to Maadi .

Experiencing such thing was such a shift in my life, I seriously want to start my own project.Would love if all people can have the oppurtunity to eat healthy even if these are refreshments and even if it does contain some sweets. Iam also fond of using special ingredients mentioned in Qor2an or recommended by Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, such as ginger which really acts as a natural antidepressant.

Hearing the TEDTalk,I kept on thinking if I can ever have this virtue of stepping to my discomfort zone out of my comfort one and start my own legacy .

I hope I can have the chance to achieve this,so have you ever thought of anything similar ?

P.S. Will post the cake's picture once i get it uploaded.
Can someone advise how can I attach a video from youtube ?

I love....

I got tagged by Yasmine and I was really down so I knew it was a sign for me to get out of my blues . Although I had a beautiful experience on Tuesday and wanted to blog abut it, wednesday was a complete disaster. Anyways, quoted from one of my favorite movies, Sound of Music, these are the few of my favorite things :

I love.....

1- the idea that if you are stuck in your car suffering from the traffic, trying to reach downtown from Maadi, you can always park your car beside the underground station and take the Metro. You will reach the Opera in less than 20 minutes while you can reach the Opera in something like an hour using your car.

2-When in my blues,I get down to the street, take a taxi or take my husband's car as I dont have one yet and sub7an Allah I either hear a verse from qoraan , a song or even read a proverb written on the back of the truck. When all this was yesterday, I saw
كله بأمره .....which simple means just to have more patient and wait as God will sure end all this and Everything will be ok.

3- arriving at work, sitting on my desk, drinking my home made cup of tea, eating my homemade sandwhich and it be better be gebna roumy :) and watching my favorite show alqaheraalyoum presented by Amr Adib. I like his way of mocking everything as well as putting all the news in a nutshell.
I became more aware of many different things happening all around the world, thanks to this show.

4-surfing the internet ,finding a new recepie, writting it down in my notebook, making it then see the looks from whoever is tasting which re-assures that Iam the best chef all over the world.
My latest dishes were meat and chicken fajita, choclate moka mousse tart last but not least my lovely red velvet cake.

5-checking my brothers blog and reading his latest posts. You cant imagine how happy Iam when I do relate to everything he is writting sometimes you cant just express your thoughts to words but someone at least my brother can do this .
Check his blog : 3ann.blogspot.com

6-watching Brothers & Sisters the tv show.I cant remember how I came through it ,all I remember is that I watched season4 which is the latest before watching the earlier episodes. I love Nora Walker, who is Sally Field, although her husband cheated on her , she never lost the urge to gather her family and keep this bond strong.

7-Youtube . Its my online TV,whenever I miss anything aired on TV I know I can search ,find and watch it anytime I want.

8-discovering new countries and cities, always wishing that I can get the chance to travel all over the world. Zanzibar in Tanzania,Bali in Indonesia and Sri Lanka are my latest explorations.

9- Martha Stewart, the blog , the site, everything. When I just log to marthastewart.com, I know I can find a new article, craft, picture or even an idea that never came through my mind and this makes me feel that I still can be happy and go on my life even if everything else doesnt seem that nice.

10-music and songs. A nice melody can make me fly up in the air when Iam on the ground.I especially like hearing soundtracks of the films, I admire most. One of my favorites is the music by Hans Zimmer made for the "Holiday " not to mention "My Best Friend's Wedding", last but not least I do enjoy Hussien ElJasmy songs in particular those with the gulf slang.

Starting Over

I have been wanting to start this blog long time ago and my time was the challenge untill I made it.

Trying to achieve somekind of documentary for what I accomplish during my days.

May Allah help me to stick to this blog and at least publish something one per week.
